Log Profiles

Two-Sided Dovetail
This handcrafted profile offers a unique look and the convenience of flat walls from a an interior design point of view. We take each log and run it through our sawmill creating a flat on two sides of the log (inside and outside). The top and bottom of the log stay round keeping the natural contour and taper of the log, creating the necessity for our craftsmen to prebuild this profile on our yard. The logs are then hand hewn. The dovetail corners are compound mitered and hand sawn. This is a chink style profile.
Full Round Saddlenotch
This is a very traditional style, handcrafted log profile. The full round logs are hand hewn and the saddle notch corners are carefully handscribed. The natural taper of the log helps to create a truly rustic appeal. This is a chink style profile.
Swedish Cope
This is the most labor intensive handcrafted profile. These logs are handscribed the full length of the log allowing it to rest fully on the contour of the log below it, eliminating the chink gap. The corners are also handscribed and the logs are hand hewn.
Post & Beam
This is rapidly becoming our most popular profile, allowing many design ideas to blend. As a unique compromise between logs, timbers and framing, the Post and Beam approach allows the client to choose between several exterior and interior siding applications and styles (which we also provide), and exhibits fewer architectural limitations than any other form of log construction. A structural log and/or timber framework from the walls to the roof system is established based on the design, location, and most importantly, the client’s taste.
Non-structural log and timber accents are also available and can be used to add log or timber elements to any conventionally framed home.
