Timber frames utilize four-sided timbers in the form of columns, beams, angled brace, trusses, purlins, collar ties, ridges and rafters to create the structural framework of your building.

Techniques
Even with the advancement of building technology, our timber crafting is all hand hewn joinery that has remained the same for over a thousand years. Mortise and tendon joinery, wooden doweling and pegging, flat to flat bearing seats, and/or hidden internal or visible external structural steel connections define a true timber frame. Our company utilized these techniques in the pre-assembly of each timber frame we produce.
Materials
Strong, dry, stable material is crucial to the quality of your timber frame. Our company uses:
- TPI graded, kiln dried Douglas-fir/Western larch
- TPI graded, dead-standing Douglas-fir/Western larch
- TPI graded, dead-standing Lodgepole pine/Engelmann spruce
- Re-claimed or salvaged Douglas-fir/Western larch beams
Finish
Depending on the tastes of the client, from rustic to contemporary, we offer the following surface finishes for all of our timber material:
- Handhewn (adzed) finish
- Machine planed (smooth) finish
- Rough-sawn finish
